  • The compilation of greenhouse gas inventories is our country's basic work in response to climate change

    Greenhouse gas inventory is a comprehensive collection of greenhouse gas emissions and absorption by human activities in a certain area. It has five major areas of greenhouse gas emissions and absorption. Involving energy activities, industrial production processes, agricultural activities, land use changes and forestry, and waste treatment. By compiling the inventory, we can have a comprehensive and objective grasp of the greenhouse gas emissions in the region, which is conducive to the targeted identification and proposal of corresponding carbon reduction measures.

    All localities are required to strengthen their ability to respond to climate change, regularly compile national and provincial greenhouse gas emission inventories, and establish a greenhouse gas emission data information system. All localities need to improve the greenhouse gas emission measurement and monitoring system, and promote key emission units to improve energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission accounting records. All localities are required to gradually establish and improve annual accounting methods and reporting systems for energy emissions in provincial and municipal administrative regions, and improve data quality.

    The people’s government require all localities to regularly compile provincial-level greenhouse gas emission inventories, strengthen statistical work on climate change, and improve the statistical indicator system and greenhouse gas emission statistical system for climate change.

    The Ministry of Ecology and Environment requires the provincial Department of Ecology and Environment to organize the compilation of provincial greenhouse gas emission inventories in 2016 and 2018.

     

    By compiling the inventory, it is of positive significance for the region to effectively control greenhouse gas emissions, carry out greenhouse gas emissions accounting, improve the ability to respond to climate change, accelerate the transformation of economic development mode, and promote sustainable economic and social development.
